Mozambique has made tremendous progress in its efforts to achieve HIV epidemic control. According to the recently released population-based impact assessment survey (INSIDA 2021), 71.6% of adults (15+ years old) living with HIV were estimated to know their status, 96.4% of those estimated to know their status were on antiretroviral therapy (ART), and 89.4% of those on ART were virally suppressed. Based on 2023 preliminary UNAIDS estimates for December 2022, Mozambique has advanced significantly in the areas of HIV case identification and treatment cohort growth, and now boasts a clinical cascade of 84-93- 93 nationally, with an estimated population-level viral load suppression (VLS) rate of 73%.
