CHARISMA Mobile: Developing a digital resource for empowerment counseling, community health clinic model for agency in relationships and safer microbicide adherence
CHARISMA is a PEPFAR- and USAID-funded empowerment counseling intervention designed to help women use oral pre-exposure prophylaxis and other antiretroviral-based HIV prevention technologies safely and effectively by addressing dynamics of their relationships with male partners, including exposure to intimate partner violence. The intervention, designed to be delivered by lay counselors, is being adapted into a self-administered digital resource called CHARISMA Mobile. CHARISMA Mobile is funded by Digital Square, a PATH-led initiative funded and designed by USAID, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and a consortium of other investors. This brief outlines the development, evaluation, and potential integration of CHARISMA Mobile into other digital platforms.
