The PrEP Power demand generation toolkit is intended for use by local partners working with key populations (KP): men who have sex with men, trans and gender diverse people, sex workers, and people who use drugs. The PrEP Power project ran human-centered design (HCD) workshops with community members in Eswatini, Kenya, and Zambia. Everything in this toolkit came out of those conversations. These creative materials were shaped by the communities they intend to serve. Extensive in-country adaptation is needed to make them a success. This toolkit gives you everything you need to adapt and use the PrEP Power creative materials in your country.

The toolkit is made up of several different components:

Human-Centered Design Insights Deck

This deck provides an overview of key insights generated from HCD workshops, including audience profile, general PrEP knowledge, common barriers to access, and recommended messaging for those looking to reach KP. It provides important context for the materials below and it is recommended to read this first.

PrEP Power Toolkit Guidance

This document summarizes workshop learnings and explains how to adapt the creative materials for your local context.

Vernacular and Slang

This document brings together the vernacular, slang, and common phrasing about PrEP that community members used in the PrEP Power human-centered design workshops in Eswatini, Kenya, and Zambia. Terms are grouped by country, then by theme. This is a reference for partners adapting the My PrEP My Choice materials into relevant language for key populations.
